Job Description The Director of Commodities Sourcing and Quality
will play a critical role in sourcing of raw materials for the
company and will lead and develop all aspects of commodities
quality management for Westrock Coffee's global green coffee and
tea supply chains. This position will also be responsible for
strategic planning and management of vendor relationships,
sustainable supply chains, origin travel evaluating supplier
capabilities (including capacity, reliability, and product
quality), managing key customer relationships, and developing and
maintaining internal processes and procedures that will enable
Westrock to streamline while meeting internal and external customer
demand. This position will hold a key role in interfacing cross
functionally with sales, marketing, operations, product
development, accounting, and with key customer accounts as
necessary.Reporting to the VP of Commodities Sourcing and Risk
Management, this position will help develop the green coffee and
tea quality teams and will assist with management of supply chain
strategies with cross-functional and external customers. Primary
Responsibilities: Play a key role in the planning and executing of
raw material purchases for global operations, ensuring timely
supply while managing inventory.
Be a key link to external partners (suppliers and customers) and
internal teams for coffee knowledge, market information, and
product and blend development assistance, etc.Understand the market
and trends and be able to make relevant buying decisions and
recommendations to sales and customers.Participate in strategic
development of Westrock's supply chains with focus on
cross-functional collaboration and helping Westrock become a
recognized leader in sustainability.Work with key cross-functional
teams for the development and optimization of raw materials, new
product development and sales support (coffee and tea), to educate
and facilitate the growth of Westrock's product lines and customer
relationships as well as monitoring the external environment for
market and regulatory changes that could impact our supply
chain.Lead inbound Commodities quality team developing system
management and training platforms; looking to establish/maintain
Westrock as a recognized quality leader.Serve as Westrock's "lead
cupper" for green coffee and tea managing raw material quality and
conformance to specifications. Contribute to establishing the
strategic vision and objectives of the commodities quality
organization while promoting & incorporating goals in all
organization areas.Participate on behalf of the company at industry
events (SCAA, NCA, Barista Guild, Roasters Guild, others).Work
cross-functionally on blend development and optimization and
knowledge transfer across the entire supply chain
Qualification Qualifications:7 years or more coffee and tea supply
chain experience, preferably with food or beverage
products.Relevant 4-year university degreeExperience and
understanding of coffee agronomic systems, coffee quality
parameters, and coffee cupping / sensory evaluation capability.
Experience with country of origin, export operations and
international logistics.Cross functional project management
experience.Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Netsuite
or other similar ERP systems)Ability to work in fast paced high
pressure environment where change is constant and needs to be
managed with internal and external customersDemonstrated
professional communication skills.Strong process orientationEqual
