We are proud to offer a Direct hire opportunity to work as a LIMS Admin/Chemist located in Kannapolis, NC. Our client is looking for an Analytical Chemist with strong Lab Information Management System (LIMS) experience to join us on our important mission to deliver the most accurate and comprehensive nutrition data ever created by leveraging cutting edge test methods in a state-of-the-art food analysis laboratory. You will join a passionate team of scientists who are thought leaders in the field of analytical chemistry from crop to food to clinical testing. Company is making a significant investment into a state-of-the-art LIMS solution and this is an exciting opportunity for an enterprising chemist to leverage their understanding of lab processes and systems to contribute to the success of the company. In the short-term, your main focus will be to partner with our LIMS vendor to implement the system to be leveraged by our Operations, R&D, QA and Commercial teams to help fulfill their goals efficiently and correctly. Your key responsibility will be to understand the company's lab processes and documentation practices in detail and interpret them to our LIMS provider for efficient implementation. In the long-run, you will be the LIMS subject matter expert on our team while also contributing to the Lab Operations as a Chemist. You will report to the company's Director of Lab Operations. Responsibilities You will be responsible for collaborating with and getting input from various internal cross functional teams including operations, R&D, QA, sales, etc. on the LIMS system requirements. You will partner with the LIMS vendor to implement the system fulfilling these requirements. While fulfilling the duties as the LIMS admin/subject matter expert, you will also be part of the lab operations team of Chemists responsible for independently performing duties such as sample preparation, analytical testing and recording / reviewing laboratory data according to the company's policies and procedures. You will be expected to generate accurate test results in a timeframe consistent with client expectations. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
--- Partner with the LIMS vendor to implement, and maintain the company's LIMS platform.
--- Maintain instrument interfaces, electronic data exchange, and other LIMS functionalities, such as data access through web portal(s) for clients, production of ad hoc and quality assurance reports.
--- Collaborate with software, hardware/server and instrument vendors to perform upgrades and the associated validations of the LIMS.
--- Partner with the laboratory staff and external system/IT partners to research, communicate and troubleshoot issues and ensure that the system is utilized most efficiently.
--- Help the lab leadership drive scientific and operational excellence in analysis through relentless focus on accuracy of results, data accuracy and efficiency.
--- Understanding and practicing the Good Laboratory Practices and accurate and traceable record keeping.
--- Independently performing efficiently at each step along the flow of samples, e.g., sample reception, retention & disposal, sample preparation including extraction & homogenization, sample analysis, and data reporting.
--- Troubleshooting and maintaining equipment such as spectrophotometer, pH meters, microwave digestors, UHPLC, LC-MS, GC, ICP-MS, etc.
--- Understanding customer test requirements and reviewing results under the guidance of lab director or other scientific and quality control leadership in the lab.
--- Following testing methods exactly as defined by the SOPs in place. Becoming familiar with reagents, controls, and other general lab procedures.
--- Proactively making your supervisor / lab leadership aware of any problems with equipment or test supplies and methods.
--- Promptly working with your supervisor to address any nonconformance with the company's safety and compliance policies. Requirements / Qualifications
--- Bachelors in Food Science/Chemistry or related field. Graduate degree preferred.
--- Lab process development and management experience preferred.
--- LIMS implementation and/or administration experience preferred.
--- Previous food analysis and method development experience preferred.
--- Experience preferred with instruments such as UHPLC, LC-MS, GC-FID, or GC-MS and analyses such as Protein/Amino Acids, Fat, Fiber, Carbohydrates, Vitamins, Minerals, Bioactives/Phytochemicals, etc.
--- Ability to interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations based on the data.
--- Some programming experience preferred, but not required.
--- Effective interpersonal & communication skills, both verbal and written, including report & SOP writing experience.
