JOB DESCRIPTION RN - MedSurg/Tele About Facility: 874 Licensed beds
Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital Chest Pain Center Stroke Center
Radius rule: Traveler s permanent address must be 50 miles outside
of home unit Unit Information: Beds: 36 Minimum Years of Experience
required? 2 years Med/Tele RN exp (Resource Team) Will you accept a
first-time traveler? Not preferred but will consider (Resource
Team) Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Spinal surgery/Spinal fusion
high acuity, Stroke, Seizure, Myasthenia Gravis, Brain
tumors/lesions, AMS Patient Ratios: RN: 1:4-6, based on acuity;
(surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1:7-8) CNA: varies
Required License, National Certification, Certs: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Skills required: General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience,
cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube
management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG
tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management,
etc.), PCA pumps, mobilizing patient post-op, back and neck brace
use Skilled in assessing and managing acute and chronic pain,
including with those with a history of substance abuse. Will use
multiple modalities to help alleviate pain, including opioid
administration Must be comfortable with post-op neuro and spine
care, including providing education to patient and family
Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood
products, IVF Support within the Department: CNA ratios vary
Receptionist/HUC Charge nurse, 24/7 may or may not have patients
Phlebotomy peripheral blood draws only IV/VAT Team Resource Nurse
as available RT, 24/7 Hospitalist, 24/7 Intensivist, 24/7 Telemetry
monitoring/tech? No monitoring tech; nurses read monitors and
respond Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC IV Pump: Alaris pump Med
dispensing: Omnicell Unit equipment: Vital machines are Masimo,
portables are Phillips Floating: If yes, where? Within region and
scope of practice Will be required to float per region needs will
require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within
scope of practice DECLINE if not agreeable Please see job posting
for dedicated region and discuss the region that applies (will
change per requisition) Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City,
Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH (peds
only) could float to any of the facilities within region if the
need arises Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central
Division (CMC Main CMC Mercy Levine Children s Hospital Region 3 -
Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy
LCH) If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time
traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock) Orientation
(facility and unit): NEO 2 days departmental Scheduling: Weekend
rotation: every other No call Holiday Expectations: Travelers will
work 75% of holidays RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding
holidays must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet
contracted hours Shift times: 7a-7p and 7p-7a Schedule cycle: every
6 weeks Other notes: No more than 2 call offs in a 13-week contract
