Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist on duty, this
position is responsible for timely and accurate interpretation and
processing of prescriptions presented by patients; assures the
pharmacy supplies are stocked; maintains organization and
cleanliness of workstation; maintain confidentiality pertaining to
PHI (Patient Health Information) by following HIPPA guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to sit, stand and walk for
long periods of time. Able to read and understand the English
language. Able to effectively maintain confidentiality of records
and communicate with all levels of personnel. Ability to work
independently with minimal supervision. Ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with providers, management
staff, and external customers. Must be able to work with multiple
changing priorities. Requires excellent organizational, problem
solving and critical thinking skills. Must be able to interact with
individuals of all cultures and levels of authority. Must be able
to function as part of a team. Excellent attention to detail.
Experience: At least one year of retail pharmacy experience.
Additional skills required: Proficient use of Microsoft Office
applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Have excellent
organizational skills. Additional skills preferred: Familiarity
with pharmacy software programs necessary to execute daily tasks.
Prior FQHC or public health experience. Education: High School
Diploma or GED certificate required Certification(s): National
Certification preferred from Pharmacy Technician Certification
Board (PTCB); Pharmacy technician registration with North Carolina
Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP) Key Responsibilities Obtaining
information to help fill prescriptions. Counting medications and
measuring out amounts to ensure customers get exactly what has been
prescribed by their doctors. Mix and prepare medications. Package
prescriptions for customers, ensuring they are labeled correctly
with dosage information. Process retail transactions and handle
money. Process insurance claims as part of filling a prescription.
Understand and maintain patient confidentiality. Perform accurate
cash management/transaction procedures or refer customers
appropriately. Participate in pharmacy QI initiative. Perform other
