Opportunity Awaits! Come join the mission of caring for our
nation’s heroes! The Salisbury VA Health Care System’s Pathology
and Laboratory Medicine Service (P&LMS) is seeking a highly
motivated, AP/CP Board-Certified or Eligible Pathologist.
Candidates should have a strong background and recent experience in
Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Duties Clinical Pathology:
Supervise and interpret activities related to Blood Bank, Clinical
Chemistry, Special Chemistry & Toxicology, Microbiology,
Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Serology, and Flow Cytometry.
Medical Conferences: Deliver presentations at Surgical M&M,
Thoracic, General Surgery, Breast Tumor Board, and other
conferences as requested. Professional Interaction: Communicate
regularly with physicians, nurses, administrators, technologists,
and patients. Availability: On-call 24/7 via beeper and phone, with
occasional on-site duties at the hospital. Requirements U.S.
Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is
impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA
Policy. Education: A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent
degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is required.
Licensure: Candidates must possess a current, complete, and
unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, or
Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Residency: Completion of a residency program in an accredited core
specialty Board Certification : Candidates must be board-certified
or board-eligible in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Preferred
Experience: Current American Board of Anatomic and Clinical
Pathology Compensation & Benefits Salary: Competitive salary,
annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases. Paid Time
Off: 50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave,
11 federal holidays, and up to 5 days for CME). Retirement: Federal
pension (5 years vesting) and a 401(k) plan with up to 5% VA
contributions. Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term
life, and long-term care (many can be carried into retirement).
Licensure: One full, unrestricted license from any U.S. State or
territory. CME: Up to $1,000 annually for full-time physicians with
board certification. Malpractice: Free liability protection with
tail coverage. Contract: No physician employment contract or
significant restrictions on moonlighting. Schedule: Monday through
Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
